An exciting rivalry is heating up this year between two long time Foothills athletes. Kevin Sandau and Brent McMurtry have a lot in common: they both started their careers as Foothills Jackrabbits and they are now both on CanadaÕs Senior Development Team. The two athletes have been dominating CanadaÕs NORAM race circuit this season, more often than not sharing the podium.

Registration is now live for the 2012 Kananaskis Ski Marathon.

Greetings parents of Track Attack and Jackrabbit age children. Canmore Nordic Ski Club is organizing a special event for boys aged 8-11 on Sunday, Jan 22, 2012 from 2-5pm. Many of us will be familiar with the highly successful Fast & Female events that are aimed at empowering girls to be active. We are pleased to be offering a similar event to coincide with World Snow Day for boys that will connect high level male cross country racers with boys to inspire a love of going fast on skis. The cross-country skiing race season has begun! Its been a busy two weekends of races for Foothills athletes. The season kicked off in Canmore with the opening Alberta Cup Races on December 3-4. SaturdayÕs skate sprint races were filled with excitement as Foothills skiers of all ages tested themselves on CanmoreÕs famously tough courses against skiers from across the country. Sunday was a classic mid-distance race.

Foothills Nordic Ski Club and the Calgary cross-country ski community wish to thank the generosity of the following donors to our fundraising campaign to purchase a new snowmobile.

The Foothills Nordic Ski Club's snowmobile is old and decrepit. It's heavy, difficult to operate, and frustrates our volunteer groomers with frequent breakdowns. It's time for new equipment!
