Biathlon Cubs Add-On - Intro to Biathlon Program

The Cubs program offers a fun, safe, and engaging way for kids to try out biathlon! Participants build confidence in skate skiing and shooting skills using Eco-Aims rifles, which are camera-based and ammunition-free, ensuring safety at city locations.

Participants must be registered in another FNSC Jackrabbits or Learn2Ski program to participate in Cubs. Contact programs@foothillsnordic.ca for more information about these programs!

Winter Session (12 Weeks)

Starting in December, the winter session builds on shooting skills while introducing skate skiing. Activities include drills and games to enhance balance, technique, and fitness. The program runs until mid-March.

Race Opportunities

Foothills provides coaching and rifle support for local races during winter. Athletes can also compete in provincial cup races, gaining experience in the broader biathlon community (race fees not included).

  • Family Ski Days (Bragg Creek or Kananaskis)

  • Foothills Club Day

Program Details

  • 8-12

    Children younger than 8 who are interested in biathlon are encouraged to register in the Jackrabbits program to develop basic ski skills.

    • December to early March - Same season as Jackrabbits

    • Mondays 6:30-8:00pm

    • This program runs in the winter only and must be taken simultaneously with one of the following cross country ski programs:

  • Participants are expected to have appropriate skate ski equipment and winter clothing. There will be more information provided to participants to review equipment and clothing needs.

  • 2026/2027 Fees

    We encourage families of all economic levels to participate in this awesome winter sport. If you have constraints for program or equipment costs, Foothills Nordic encourages families to seek support through KIDSPORT, a local program to help lower-income families with sport and activity program costs.
