Bring Cross-Country Skiing to Your School with Foothills Nordic!

Foothills Nordic is proud to offer the Ski at School program, introducing Calgary’s elementary students to the joys of cross-country skiing right in their own school yards! We provide everything needed for a fun and safe experience—track setting, top-quality equipment, and expert coaching.

Launched in 2010, the program was an immediate hit, and in 2016, it expanded nationally with Cross Country Canada and AltaGas. Foothills Nordic continues to lead the charge locally, delivering the program three days of skiing lessons annually to 5-7 schools, where certified trained coaches teach kids the fundamentals of skiing while promoting fitness and fun.

Each school receives 2-3 days of dedicated ski instruction. Our affordable program can accommodate up to 35 students per lesson and up to 6 lessons per school day. With a focus on play-based learning and progressive skill development, Ski at School provides the ideal environment to introduce your students to positive outdoor learning experiences.

Through Ski at School, we’re fostering healthy, active communities and offering the next generation access to the lifelong sport of cross-country skiing. Ski at School is booked directly with each school. We take bookings up to 1 year in advance with a waitlist for future seasons.

Ski at School Program Options:

Grades 1-6 / 3 Day program at Your School:

We will provide 3 days (generally Mon-Weds) of instruction for up to 6 classes per day. Each class can have up to 30 students and lessons will be approximately 50-75 minutes long.

Grades 5-8 / 2 day program at Confederation Park Golf Course:

We will provide 2 days (Generally Thurs-Fri) of instruction for up to 4 classes per day. Each class can have up to 35 students and lessons will be approximately 75-105 minutes long.
